Students were asked to select a work of literature to visually redesign as well as reset it's text. For my work I chose Fabre's Book of Insects, by Jean Henri Fabre. An older yet whimsical title that outlines the history and field notes of particular insects that had been found around Fabre's property, I was inspired to create a version suited for children. The choice of a square format was made to encourage those using this version to take it with them outside to observe these insects in their habitats. Questions were also added at the end of each chapter to keep the reader engaged in the experience. The use of texture within the illustrations is echoed within the outer edges of each chapter to help guide the reader through every specific chapter.
